Summer and Speed Painting

Tue May 26, 2009, 3:51 PM
At last, it is summer once again. And unfortunately, I will be taking classes at the university nearly all summer, but I do not yet know whether or not these classes will try to kill me, as many classes have attempted thus far. We shall find out how much time I will have soon enough! And also how much of that time I will spend ignoring homework entirely.

The most exciting thing about the past semester is that I have begun using oil paints, and learned that I am not nearly as bad as I was in high school. Perhaps I will upload them here on day, though you can probably mark that off as another empty promise. :D

Anyway! Last journal, I said something about a clockwork thing. This fell through! But I did at least try for a while. Observe!

Attempt #1
Attempt #2

I have fallen out of love with this particular picture and moved on. But it is the thought that counts, right? RIGHT? HEY I TRIED.

At the moment, I am working more with painting in photoshop: the experiment has been very interesting. I've always wanted to be able to just slap down colors and have a picture, but never had the nerve (or the knowledge) to do so; after Painting 1, I have a better idea of how to break down colors. It has helped immensely, and I will have a few things to post very soon.

Speaking of posting things (or was it pointless things?), I have begun to utilize my otherwise useless LJ for good, rather than whiny evil. There is still ranting occasionally, usually movie, TV or gaming related, but for the most part, I am trying to post things that won't embarrass me to read later. Thus, more humor and more sketches that I would otherwise feel ashamed of posting here either because A) they are just not polished enough, or B) they are primarily me sketching quick things to spite others. But sometimes... sometimes they are both. D:

Perhaps eventually I will compile the sketches and do a dump here. MORE EMPTY PROMISES.

Oh god, have I really avoided posting here for a whole year?

ALSO! Before I forget again, I am super excited about my having been mentioned in an edition of Fresh Meat, a little newsletter that features up-and-coming and relatively unknown artists here on DA. Hooray! Even though I'm not sure why they decided to show a thumb of Dead Pan Romance, I am still very flattered. And if one of you watchers happened to come here because of that article, thanks again! :D

Well, it took a while, but I finished updating Legends Never Die - nineteen chapters! :D

Very nice! How are things going on the viewer front?

I haven't checked, though when I posted chapter 15, I was avenging 8 views per day.

Oddly enough, yet another person faved my story - that's four excluding you - without telling me why. Ah, well! I suppose I'm old-fashioned. ;)

Heh, yeah. It happens that way. I gave up wondering after a while. :\

I'm a sad girl. I just checked out the comics coming out in February (mainly just to look at the covers and shake my head at the lousy summaries), and Tiny Titans would have a guest writer for that issue: Geoff Johns.

Betcha knows where this is going.

Yep, Superboy is being introduced in that issue. (Cover? Superboy: "I'm back!" and with Robin, Kid Flash grinning and blonde Wonder Girl smitten.)

Geez, that man even got into the Tiny Titans. I'm sad. :(

Sage advice, indeed. Perhaps I should give up wondering.
